Ok, I like the ideas but please keep them coming. I just got back from a trip abroad so I will get on these suggestions soon, but I want more and some new ideas. I can't stop people from smoking single handedly and I'm not really looking for ways to regulate people's lives. I would love to see a non smoking bylaw passed but it's not my place to do it alone. Plus I smoke.

Book exchange is in the works.......

Please keep ideas coming, there's lot's that can be done.

I echo the comments on the success of the candidate's fora. Art exhibits, themed events, theatre are also good ideas, worthy of exploration.

I feel your angst about the smoking issue. I am not what you would consider to be a regular customer, and the only reason (the _only_ one) has to do with the smoking issue. Perhaps it's because of the smallish venue, but the smoke seems to hit me harder here than other places.

Of course you would like to offer a smoke free, healthy environment fo ryour staff, but I understand that without a level playing field, it might be suicide to go it alone.

Community is an important idea, and I for one applaud your efforts. Keep up with the lofty goals

something that develops community would be really great.

i love that idea, i mean to use the bar to facilitate community in different ways.

you're right when you start to think of the potential of a place where people can meet together, and develop ideas, it's quite significant.

i know that politics might seem like an unpopular choice, especially for the 18-25 year olds, but that idea can change.

i was so happy to hear that you provided a forum for the candidates to debate. i wasn't able to attend, but there definitely can be nothing bad about opening the floor where a number of well educated, politically savy youths are able to listen to the political platforms.

the debate idea is outstanding. and also any groups that could have community related meetings would be really great too.

i was looking for a place to start and end a community walk. it would be simply getting together with neighbours, because sometimes it's hard to get to know people living sometime sin such a concentrated area in the city centre... but still so important for people to feel safe and a part of the neighbourhood.

the walk would just be people from the beltline area, neighbours and friends, meeting at a local pub or coffee shop.

we'd have some dinner/drinks and start walking after that. we'd make loop around the beltline, meeting people that we saw along the way, and introducing ourselves.... and inviting more people to join. if the group got too big, then they could start their own small group.

i was thinking the walks would happen weekly during the summer... and i'd have to sort out something else for the winter.

i really think it would promote community on the most basic level. it would probably make it feel a whole lot safer too. plus, that's the kind of group that can really see the need in the community for changes, or improvements. it's something i've been tossing around anyway.

maybe madeline king or lee richardson would be open to scheduled question periods where people from the neighbourhood could raise their concerns. i'd come to that. maybe you could have everyone submit their questions in advance, to keep it organized.

anyway. love it. love it. love it.
